KALININGRAD - DAY 1

Team Victory made it to Russia. Not quite the way it was planned - but it's Russia! It's great seeing our second family. We're looking forward to a great week!

Kaliningrad is the capital of the Russian province of the same name, sandwiched between Poland and Lithuania along the Baltic Coast. Dubbed Königsberg during centuries of Prussian rule, the city was largely reconstructed after WWII. Traces of its German heritage can be seen in the surviving Brandenburg Gate and the riverside Fishing Village, a dining and shopping destination with re-created medieval-style buildings.

According to a 2012 survey 34% of the population of Kaliningrad Oblast declare themselves to be "spiritual but not religious", 30.9% belong to the Russian Orthodox Church, 22% are atheist and 11.1% follow other religions or did not give an answer to the survey question, 1% are unaffiliated generic Christians and 1% belong to the Catholic Church.

This country needs to know the love of Christ!
